Anyone have any secrets they use to build a forum that they would like to share?  I'm sure there are no quick easy shortcuts to building an active community.  But, would anyone care to share what they have done to sucessfully build up a community?  Do you post on your own forum, write articles and submit them to article directories, exchange links, hire SEO professionals?  What have you and haven't you tried and found successful or unsuccessful?
